Alser Puerto Sagunto beat BM ARS Palma del Río 28–22 in a match that began positively against a recently promoted side, with the red-and-whites superior throughout. In the opening minutes, the red-and-white team's compact defence and Ibrahim's fine performance delayed the Andalusians from opening the scoring; in the fifth minute, the score was 4–2 after a goal from Iker Serrano. In the following 15 minutes, the visitors closed the gap to 9–8, prompting Vicent Nogués to call a timeout to instruct his players and halt the Andalusians' attacking play. In the closing stages of the first half, both teams raised the pace despite it being a friendly, and Alser went into the break ahead (13–10) thanks to their attacking accuracy and good defensive performance.
