Toni Malla’s side began winter pre-season training on Wednesday, with two friendly matches against Asobal teams already arranged. On Thursday, 19 January, they will face Balonmano Benidorm at the Ovni from 20:00. That same week, they will travel to Huesca to face Bada Huesca (16:30). 

The red-and-white coach, Toni Malla, explains the return to work for his team: ‘We are approaching three weeks of winter pre-season, which we will use to increase the tactical workload and correct situations where we believe we need to improve. We need to work both defensively and offensively and add another option to tackle what remains of the first phase and the second phase once we have qualified.’ 

The work during this first week will be physical, so that Malla’s side can recover after the Christmas break: ‘The initial preparation is focused on regaining physical condition after several weeks in which the players have been on holiday and have trained on their own according to the programme given to them by our fitness coach. It is now time to focus on that aspect.’ 

Regarding what awaits them from 28 January, when the Silver Division of Honour league resumes, Malla says that the objective is to secure qualification for the group competing for promotion as soon as possible: ‘We approach it with enthusiasm and eager to do a good job. The objective is to pick up two points as soon as possible to confirm qualification for the promotion phase and, once this first goal has been achieved, work and think about what lies ahead. That means collecting as many points as possible for the next phase, but first we are focused on securing those points, which we believe should come against Sant Quirze.’
