Extraordinary General Meeting of Members

The Board of Directors of Balonmano Puerto Sagunto is calling an Extraordinary General Meeting of Members for next Friday, 4 May, at 18:30 on the first call and at 19:00 on the second, in the assembly hall of Comisiones Obreras in Puerto Sagunto.

The sole item on the agenda is to discuss the club's current situation. This includes the almost certain sporting relegation of the first team from the Liga Asobal, but above it hangs an even heavier burden: the dramatic financial situation facing the club, caused by the lack of public and private financial support. This has left our main sponsor, Alser, frustrated and isolated after almost a decade of providing practically sole support for the city's strongest and most widely followed sporting and social project.

This situation, informing members about the activities of the Platform for the Defence of BM Puerto Sagunto, possible solutions, and the call for the full involvement of our entire membership in collecting citizens' signatures, will form the central focus of this Extraordinary General Meeting.

While it is always healthy and beneficial for a democratic club like ours, whose members elect its directors, to have the highest possible attendance and participation at members' meetings, at this crucial moment for Balonmano Puerto Sagunto's survival as an elite club, the Board of Directors believes that attending the meeting is not only a right, but also a duty demonstrating commitment as an active member of this sporting community.

We hope that our members will attend this key meeting in large numbers, demonstrating the representation our club has in the city's community. The overwhelming support for this elite project, represented by 1,500 people in the Ovni every fortnight, now faces an even more crucial match in the offices than it might appear.

The threat of the elite project's demise is not an empty gesture or a media pressure tactic by this Board of Directors; it is the tangible reality we face day after day. Relegation is not a tragedy; losing hope of returning, administratively or through sporting achievement, would mean the death of a dream that we have made a reality over recent years after forty years of waiting.
