Friendly against Benidorm to be played in front of 150 members of the public

The Board of Directors of Balonmano Puerto Sagunto decided this morning, at a videoconference meeting, to hold the friendly match against BM Benidorm with a limited capacity for spectators. The match will provide experience for future games, and specifically 150 members will be able to attend. The board has decided that the members allowed to enter will be the earliest by length of membership, together with their family groups; specifically, members from F6, F9, F19 and M1 to M100 and their linked members will be able to attend‘to reduce the risk of infection between different people. In this way, it may be possible for the first 90 members to enter. The idea is that the next members will enter at the following match, and so on. This mechanism is intended to identify the people who will attend, as the club needs these details in order to hold the match with spectators’, says club president Juanjo Bataller. Although the decision has been made, the board is monitoring the development of the pandemic in the city: ‘ if coronavirus cases increase between now and 15 August in Sagunto and Puerto de Sagunto, the match will be played behind closed doors’, Juanjo states. The club president has outlined the measures that will be implemented: ‘you must not leave your seat during the interval. Spectators will not be allowed access to the court. Only the authorised seats may be used; unusable seats will be marked. Entry to the sports hall will be solely through the main door, where the temperature of all attendees will be taken. There will be a disinfectant mat, and the use of hand sanitiser will be compulsory both on entering and leaving the sports hall. The correct use of a face mask will also be required. You may not enter or leave the sports hall through any door other than the main one’.

As for the members who will be able to enter the Ovni:‘a rota will be established, starting with the longest-serving members and their family groups. At successive matches, the rota will move on. This will enable us to avoid having to fill in the personal-details form required by the health authorities on entry, as the attending members will already be identified and their details will already be held by the Club. A safety distance of 1.5 metres must be maintained at all times’, Bataller explains.

‘You must attend the match with this season’s membership card, which can be collected from the club headquarters from Monday. A mask bearing the Club’s corporate image will be given to you together with the card’, the president reminds us that the membership campaign ‘we will return to the Ovni’ is already under way and that members can renew their commitment from Monday.

‘No other people will be allowed in except those indicated. Other supporters, from either team, and youth players will not be able to attend; provision has also been made for the latter to enter in future rotating turns. Children who are members may enter during their corresponding turn, accompanied by adults who will be responsible for ensuring that all the rules are followed, especially the safety distance. Children who are not members will not be allowed into the sports hall’, Juanjo Bataller adds.

Regarding the use of the sports hall facilities, the red-and-white president points out that ‘In addition, attendees will be asked to use the toilets as little as possible. They will also have a system governing their use because of their limited capacity, in order to reduce movement around the facility and maintain the safety distance. We will have to avoid crowds both when entering and leaving the facility, always maintaining a distance of 1.5 metres, even when we are already outside the sports hall. We recommend that people bring water from home, because, as they will not be able to leave, they will need to stay hydrated’.

‘Whether we can hold the next matches with spectators will depend on the outcome of this experience. We must scrupulously respect the safety rules and existing protocols. We are confident in our members’ understanding and goodwill. We are learning; it is a new experience and we have no precedent, but we believe it is worth trying so that we can enjoy watching our team live’, concludes the president of Fertiberia Balonmano Puerto Sagunto.

Fertiberia Balonmano Puerto Sagunto launch the membership campaign ‘#wewillreturntotheovni’ at a delicate and uncertain time for everyone due to COVID19. From Monday, membership renewals will begin; this season, the fee has been reduced by between 25 and 30% of its usual price.
