Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto’s promotion to the ASOBAL league has been recognised by Sagunto Town Council. In the council chamber of Sagunto Town Council, the Mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, the councillor responsible for Sport at Sagunto Town Council, Javier Timón, and representatives of the various political groups welcomed the club president, Juanjo Bataller, the board, the squad and the coaching staff of Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto. 

On Sunday 7 May, Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto were promoted to the ASOBAL league. The 31–22 victory over Villa de Aranda secured promotion for the team, together with Novás’ defeat to Málaga. In this way, the team managed by Toni Malla returned to the top tier of Spanish handball two years after their last relegation. 

Javier Timón stated that «everyone recognises Fertiberia Handball Puerto as one of the emblems of our city». The Mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, stated that Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto should be an ASOBAL team: «We have to believe that Puerto is ASOBAL and that this is where it belongs». He also added: «I am convinced that we have returned to ASOBAL to stay». He also highlighted the importance of promotion and its impact on the city, in tourism, economic, sporting and social terms, and described handball as «a sport that is part of our identity, of our pride in the city».
