
Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto's Handball School, in collaboration with BM Morvedre and football club CD Acero, is organising the 1st Easter Handball Tournament. It could not have chosen a better setting than a return to the court where it was born in 1951, the Fornás Ground, home of Club Deportivo Acero.
Next Saturday, 12 April, from 9:45 am to 2 pm, the current artificial-turf mini-pitches used by CD Acero, where the historic Fornás handball court was once located, will be filled with young under-12 and under-10 players from schools in the municipality, as well as representatives of the three visiting clubs invited to the event: BM Mislata, BM Onda and BM Altura.
The event will use the two artificial-turf mini-pitches at FORNAS, one of them divided in two, and the playing field of the also historic Nuestra Señora de Begoña School. There will therefore be four venues where a remarkable total of 41 matches will be played simultaneously, organised into an under-12 tournament with eight teams and an under-10 tournament with ten teams.
The grand finale will also be highly symbolic, as it will be an exhibition match between FERTIBERIA PUERTO SAGUNTO's men's CADET B team and BM MORVEDRE's women's junior side.
Promotion for the event will also strike a chord with red-and-white supporters, as members of Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto's Communications Office have produced a
promotional video clip for the tournament, taking one representative from each school to the legendary Fornás venue, alongside three living legends of handball in Puerto de Sagunto: Pedro Conde, Juan Carlos Núñez and Antonio Sarió Sánchez, who holds the record for appearances for BM Puerto Sagunto.
