Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto win and improve suitably
Nacho Plaza Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto won 23–28 this afternoon against GlobalCaja Ciudad Encantada, in a match in which the red-and-whites knew how to face their opponents with great assurance. The match began with GlobalCaja Ciudad Encantada taking possession, and they were quick to show their strengths with a strong attack during the opening five minutes, which were full of intensity from the home side. Fertiberia were still settling in, but led by Bernatonis and Plaza, the Valencians managed to draw level at 3–3. Patxi Martí’s men stepped up, but the Cuenca side stayed close behind, just one goal away. Until the 15th minute, the match was very even, but Fertiberia’s players reached their peak and the gap on the scoreboard grew. Lidio Jiménez had to call a timeout as the match was slipping away from his side. Afterwards, GlobalCaja came out with greater force, and it was Patxi Martí who called a timeout in the 28th minute to restore the team’s strength. After several failed counter-attacks and a goal from Ciudad Encantada, Malasinskas and Toni Alegre played the ball forward to help the team go into the dressing rooms ahead (12–13). The red-and-whites came out onto the court determined to take the points home and were quick to show it, as the scoreboard was never against them during the second half. Fertiberia not only increased the intensity of their attack but also that of their defence—with a magnificent Bruixola in goal—which meant that the Cuenca side could only hope to draw level twice. In the final 15 minutes, Ciudad Encantada could do nothing against a much superior Fertiberia side, who secured victory (23–28). The understanding already evident between the players should be highlighted, as should the nearly 50 red-and-white supporters who travelled to Sargal. Fertiberia’s next fixture will be away against Naturhouse La Rioja on the 20th, and it will not be until the following matchday that the game against Bada Huesca will be played at the Ovni.   Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto: Bruixola, Sebastián, Malasinkas (5), Bernatonis (6), Rubén Ruiz, Victor Álvarez (4), Pocholo, Plaza (7), Tarrasó (3), Sladic (1), Berrios, Toni Alegre (1), Nebot, Fernández (1), Dukic and Roque.   BM Ciudad Encantada: Samuel, Oliva, Moya del Saz, Fernández, Pérez Ortiz (4), Mendoza, Tolmos, Bungue (2), Renaud (7), Pérez, Marchan, Valles (2), Sergio López, Víctor (3), David Balaguer (5).   Officials: Alberto Ballano and Juan Jesús Belloso (Valencian Federation).
