Fertiberia sign Israel international Chen Pomeranz

Balonmano Puerto Sagunto announce the signing of Israel international player Chen Pomeranz. The left-back and centre-back will play in the Sacyr Asobal League for the first time in red and white and says that he is ‘very happy’ and eager to contribute everything he has. Pomeranz comes from A.S. Ramat Hasharon and has played several seasons in the Bundesliga, where he coincided with former red-and-white player Alfredo Sorrentino. Pomeranz says that during the coronavirus lockdown he continued preparing for his return to the court  ‘I was in Tel Aviv during the lockdown, and luckily it was not very difficult there. However, I brought some weights and Olympic barbell plates and turned my terrace into a weights gym. When we were allowed out of the house, I exercised wholeheartedly, doing activities such as kitesurfing and Pilates. It was a very irregular season.’

The Israeli player also reflects on last season: ‘Last season I played for the club in my home town in Israel. The season was very short, and just when we were on a good run, it came to an end. It is very important for me to contribute again to my city, where I began my career and where my family lives. But the truth is that things such as people’s health are much more important than last season’s handball.’

Chen arrives at the Ovni with enthusiasm and excitement:  ‘I am going to contribute everything I have, everything the team needs to achieve the club’s objectives. Chen Pomeranz’s signing follows those of Gonzalo Carou, Miguel Miralles, Franzini and Pau, as well as the renewals of Leo Querín, Dija Cruz, Guillermo Corzo, Nacho Mirallave, Alex Pozzer, Óscar Camacho, Toni Alegre and Óscar García. The club have also announced that Jaka, Marcos Dorado, Alex Tello, Iñigo Celorrio and Ángel López will not continue with the club, as well as David Bruixola’s retirement from the court.
