Fertiberia honours its Spartans

Once again, Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto has brought its season to a close.

On their return to the Liga Asobal, the red-and-white club once again held its traditional end-of-season gala at the Casal Jove in Puerto de Sagunto.

Hosted once more by Pepa Conesa and Carlos Argente, the event brought together nearly 250 people who did not want to miss the awards presented to the various sections of the organisation and the memories of a recent promotion that returned the Valencian club to the top tier of Spanish handball.

With the attendance of prominent figures such as the newly appointed President of the Provincial Council of Valencia, Toni Gaspar, born in Camp de Morvedre, the Director General of Sport of the Valencian Government, Josep Miquel Moya, the President of the Valencian Federation, Pedro Fuertes, and the Mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, the gala progressed from the commemorative promotion video to the various Red-and-White Spartans collecting their awards.

The highlight of the evening was the Legend Spartan award, reserved for those who have worn the red-and-white shirt for a long time. This year it went to Pocholo, who is retiring from the court and has been an icon of the club during the seven consecutive seasons he played for Fertiberia. The award was presented to him by the eternal captain, David Bruixola.

After the presentations came the speeches by the authorities. The speeches were brought to a close by the Mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, who made the importance of Fertiberia to the city clear in an emotional speech and thanked the red-and-white side for its efforts: “you are more than physical activity for the city; you are an emotion, and emotions are lived, not counted”.

The presentation of the members’ campaign video under the slogan “We’re Back” and the traditional photograph of the award winners brought the curtain down on a season to remember for the Valencian club.
