Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto approves the largest budget in its history

At the Extraordinary General Meeting held last Tuesday, Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto members approved the budget presented by the board of directors, headed by club president Carlos Argente.

Alongside financial matters, the meeting reviewed the 2025-26 season from sporting, social and commercial perspectives and informed members about changes to the board of directors.

After reviewing the accounts for the 2025 financial year and the previous season, Carlos Argente presented the attending members with a budget of €1.1 million. According to the red-and-white club’s president, it is the highest figure in absolute terms, although not in real terms. To provide context, he recalled: “The budget for the 2010-11 season amounted to €791,000 and, adjusted for the cost of living and accumulated inflation, it is practically equivalent to the amount the club currently needs to face its return to the NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League and maintain an academy structure comprising 13 teams.”

Carlos Argente also explained how the club managed to return to ASOBAL 40 years later and what Fertiberia now needs to meet the challenge of competing in the top tier of Spanish handball. “This is the moment of truth. In 2010 we managed to bring together a growing membership around the club, all the municipal, provincial and regional political parties and, alongside a strong main sponsor, Alser at the time, we succeeded in attracting five-figure business support,” Argente added.

The president stated that “the club will belong to everyone or to no one” and that competing at the highest level cannot be the objective of only a few people. He concluded: “No director is a millionaire. I am not a president who owns a company and can guarantee resources for the pleasure of seeing my club among the elite. We can only promise enthusiasm and hard work.”

As part of its efforts to continue generating the necessary resources, the organisation is keeping both its membership campaign and the initiative known as the Business Club open, while continuing to attract new companies from the city’s extensive industrial sector.
