2026-07-14At ASOBAL’s Ordinary and Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday 9 July, Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto and Cajasol Sevilla BM Proin were unanimously accepted by the other clubs in the competition, joining the select group of the 16 best men’s handball teams in Spain.
Having passed the financial control process required before affiliation, the red-and-white club’s sporting rights are now confirmed through full membership for the 2026-27 NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League.
Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto president Carlos Argente said: “We are grateful for our admission, both to the Association and to the other clubs. It has been a demanding process because today’s ASOBAL, rightly in my view, scrutinises clubs much more closely than in the past. It is the only way to build increasingly sound teams and improve and raise the standard of elite Spanish handball.”
“The next stage is also highly demanding. We must now raise the financial guarantees required by the division while continuing to complete a budget that will exceed one million euros. We hope to have the support of every public authority, the business community, local retailers and our supporters as we take on this challenge,” Argente added.
On the sporting side, first-team coach Sergio Mallo has called his players in to begin pre-season on Saturday 1 August. The first public event will take place on Monday 3 August with a visit from the mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno; its location and time will be announced shortly.
