Fertiberia renew winger Óscar Camacho

BM Puerto Sagunto continue to invest in the youth and talent of winger Óscar Camacho, who has renewed for another season after joining the red-and-white club’s reserve team four seasons ago. Camacho continued to grow and develop in 1st National until he made his first-team debut while the side were competing in the Silver Honour Division. Following the return to Asobal, the winger has enjoyed minutes in the top flight, where he hopes to establish himself.

The young Torrevieja player says he is ‘very happy to be able to continue for another season and that both the coaching staff and the club trust me for another year and give me the opportunity to continue contributing to the team’.

The truth is that, from a young age, I think every handball player dreams of being able to play matches in an entire top division such as ASOBAL. From the very first minute, Puerto Sagunto welcomed me as one of their own, both the people I already knew and those I have got to know, and gave me the opportunity to make my debut with the Asobal team. However, this season was my first season as a first-team player in every respect in the ASOBAL league after that wonderful promotion play-off, and it was cut short by the current situation. So I think this renewal gives me the opportunity to fulfil a dream and continue competing at the highest level, of course now with all the relevant measuresin place,’ Camacho adds.

Regarding his development at the club, he says: ‘This will be my fifth season at the club. I came to Valencia to study Aerospace Engineering at the UPV, and that gave me the opportunity to start playing in Puerto. I began in 1st National, which had only just been formed at the time, and gradually progressed from playing a friendly with the first team that year, to making my league debut the following year, and benefiting from the confidence Vicent placed in me for the DHP project, right through to this season’.

As for what he will bring to the team, he says ‘I will always contribute everything I can. We are fortunate to have many young players alongside many experienced ones, and I think it is a good combination of experience and dynamism. So, in my role, I hope to contribute dynamism to our play while gaining experience in the game.’

‘To the supporters, I would say: take care of yourselves—above all, that. Health is the most important thing. And do not doubt for a second that we will give our best on the court in every match, even if you cannot be there physically. Anyone who follows the league even a little knows how important our supporters are to us. It will of course be more difficult, but circumstances are what they are, and health must come before everything else. We know that wherever you are, you will be supporting us, and we will fight with all our strength so that your support does not go to waste’, Camacho concludes regarding the red-and-white supporters.
