Fertiberia narrowly miss out on points at Albericia

Fertiberia Balonmano Puerto Sagunto lose 30–29 to Liberbank Cantabria in the final minute. The red-and-whites fought in a hard-fought match, despite injuries and a tough refereeing performance, right up to the final minute. They came close to drawing, but it was not to be. Having to play the final minutes with three exclusions was a major factor. The first half favoured the home side, who went into the interval 18–15 ahead. After the break, however, either side could have won the match. In the end, the points stayed in Santander. It is worth noting that the match marked first-national player Jordi Manero’s Asobal debut, due to Pozzer’s injury.

Coach Vicent Nogués said of the match: “We played well on a difficult court and with many absences. The team performed well; we kept fighting against the opposition, the referees and all the injuries we arrived with. Despite all this, we stayed in the match until the 60th minute. It is a shame that we could not take points in the end, because we faced the final minutes, when the game was most level, with three exclusions. Otherwise, we could have won the match. I am proud of the match the lads played today, and I believe that if we fight like this, we can take many points away from home.”
