Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto’s reserve team begins pre-season

A revamped Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto B begins work with the aim of continuing to provide players for the Asobal team

Fertiberia’s reserve team begins pre-season tomorrow, Monday, with a view to competing for another year in the men’s Primera Nacional, the third tier of Spanish handball. With Toni Malla from Catalonia in charge on the bench, he will lead a very young group with an average age of 20, including players aiming to follow in the footsteps of players such as Ribes, Celorrio, Ángel, Oscar and Camacho, who came through this reserve team before joining the Asobal team.

Many new faces, some with experience in the red-and-white academy, such as goalkeeper Guille Martinez and left-handers Landete and Sorando; returning players such as Chema Piro; and others who have just arrived. The Catalans Manero, Ortega and Fernández, together with former BM Elche player Tomas Fuentes and Dani Rustarazo, who was trained at LLiria and formerly played for Villareal. They will be joined by players who already have experience with the red-and-white reserve team, such as captain Ivan Urbano, a true example of personal resilience, cancer included, Rubén Gil, injured until January, and the three players from Puerto de Sagunto, the three “Alvaros”: Perales, Gil and Lopez 

A very young squad whose usual objectives will be to retain their national division status and continue to serve as a breeding ground for outstanding players, who can complete their development in the slow-burning forge of the red-and-white reserve team.
