Youth Team in the Regional League qualify for the Spanish Championship

The Valencian Regional League Youth Team have qualified to compete in one of the sections of the Spanish Championship in their age category. With one match remaining before the competition ends, their mathematically secured third place, together with the magnificent efforts of the Valencian Community Handball Federation, led by its President Arturo Tejedor and General Manager Paco Blazquez, who managed to change the initial allocation of two places for the Community in this category, have finally made the dream of these outstanding young players, coached by Vicente Sos and assisted by Goyo Puerta, a reality.

At such a difficult time for our elite team and for the club’s financial situation, our everlasting academy is responsible for bringing us the greatest joys. Since 1977, with a legendary youth team led by Antonio Sario senior, the club has not had representation at the Spanish Youth Championship.

If we add to this the place secured by the performance-level under-14 team, we can say that never before have two academy teams from the same club managed to play in the Spanish Championship in the same year.

Let us remind everyone that Tuesday’s international friendly against Chile, at the Ovni at 8 pm, with tickets priced at 5 euros for members and 10 for non-members, is a match to raise funds for the wonderful trips these young players have to make to continue displaying the red-and-white colours of Alser BM Puerto Sagunto throughout Spain.

Today more than ever, it is clear and proven that in sport, having an elite team as a reference is not an expensive whim, but the driving force not only for thousands of supporters, but also for hundreds of young people in the city in particular and in the Community as well, who need that beacon to guide them in practising their favourite sport.
