2025-06-27Fertiberia Balonmano Puerto Sagunto’s first-team coaching staff for 2025–2026 will feature two new faces (Sergio Mallo and Carlos Greses), while Vicent Sanchís continues.
Sergio Mallo will combine the roles of assistant coach of the first team and head coach of the reserve team. The Vigo native holds the highest possible coaching qualification in handball today: Master Coach. He joins from Porriño, with whom he achieved fourth place in the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola and finished runners-up in the EHF European Cup this past season. From 2018 to 2024, he worked as coach, assistant coach and technical director at AD Carballal. He also holds a degree in Physiotherapy and a Master’s in Nutrition (both obtained at the University of Vigo).
“The reserve team Sergio will manage will be closely linked to our team in terms of the playing model. He is a coach with potential, enthusiasm and passion for our sport, as well as a professional with extensive experience,” Toni Malla explains regarding the connection between his players and the reserve team.
Carlos Greses will be responsible for managing the squad’s physical preparation. Developed as a player at Levante UDBM Marni, he now brings his handball knowledge to our project in pursuit of excellence in physical conditioning. He holds a degree in CAFAD, during which he completed his university placement in the final months of 2025, earning the confidence of the red-and-white management.
“Carlos’s arrival is the club’s commitment to someone beginning his professional development in physical preparation. He is passionate about handball and physical preparation. We needed someone dedicated entirely to the players’ physical needs. We are delighted to have him,” says the Tortosa coach regarding the decision to bring Carlos on board.
The person responsible for continuing the specific work with the goalkeepers and scouting will once again be Vicent Sanchís, following his renewal with the club. “For us, he is a fundamental pillar of all the success we have achieved in recent seasons, so we considered it vital that he remain on the staff,” Toni concludes regarding Vicent’s continued presence alongside him.
With these three new announcements, the first team’s sporting coaching staff for next season is now complete. We recall that Toni Malla renewed his contract as first-team coach until 2028, with two fixed seasons (2025–2026 and 2026–2027) and the option of one further extension for 2027–2028.
