PSOE expresses its intention to continue supporting Fertiberia BM Puerto Sagunto

The board of Fertiberia Balonmano Puerto Sagunto, led by president Juanjo Bataller, met this afternoon with five representatives of the city’s new PSOE candidacy, specifically the lead candidate, Darío Moreno Lerga, and his colleagues, Mª José Carrera, Javier Raro, Javier Timón and Raúl Palmero. The renewed PSOE candidacy expressed its support for the red-and-white club, at the second meeting the club has held with a political candidacy. The board hopes to meet with the others standing in the forthcoming local elections on 26 May.

During the meeting, president Juanjo Bateller outlined the club’s current situation as it seeks promotion back to Asobal, the highest division of Spanish handball, from which it was relegated last season.

For his part, PSOE candidate for mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, stated that “If things go well for the city’s sports clubs in general, and for you in particular, they go well for us too. We want to continue along the same line of work you had with Chover, which I understand has gone well. Regarding the renewal of the grant, we understand that the council will have the money and that it will not be a problem.”

The party led by Moreno also expressed its commitment to working to maintain Fertiberia’s sponsorship and to supporting the club in its search for new sponsors: “Miguel Chover is already in contact with new companies that will arrive at Parc Sagunt, and we hope to continue the negotiations ourselves to secure sponsorships for the city’s sports clubs in general”.

Regarding the new sports hall, the PSOE lead candidate stated that they have “All our determination to see it completed. We have been informed that this has not been possible due to technical problems with the companies and the tendering process. Our intention is to continue working to finish it as soon as possible.”
