Jorge Romanillos completes the summer signings

Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto and Jorge Romanillos have reached an agreement for the player to become the red-and-white first team’s fourth and final signing ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The 25-year-old, 1.88-metre pivot was born in Guadalajara and stands out for his contribution at both ends of the court, in defence as well as attack.

His professional career began in the 2019-20 campaign with hometown club Sanicentro BM Guadalajara. He made his NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League debut that season as the team from the Alcarria region finished seventh with 15 points. Romanillos played 17 matches and scored 14 goals. He also made his first appearance in the Copa de S. M. el Rey, featuring in three rounds of the competition.

The following season did not have the same outcome for the team, as Sanicentro BM Guadalajara were relegated to División de Honor Plata after finishing 15th with 22 points. Individually, however, the pivot improved his figures by scoring 26 goals in 34 appearances.

The 2021-22 campaign brought his first experience in the second tier. It proved brief, as he won promotion and immediately returned to the top flight of Spanish handball.

He played his final two seasons for the purple side between 2022 and 2024. The first ended in another relegation to División de Honor Plata, although Romanillos enjoyed an impressive individual campaign with 59 goals in 30 matches and also took part in three cup rounds.

In 2023-24 he secured another direct promotion to ASOBAL after Sanicentro BM Guadalajara finished top with 43 points. That league success was accompanied by a further Copa de S. M. el Rey appearance. Romanillos scored 53 goals across 30 matches in the two competitions.

His next career move took him to BM Caserío Ciudad Real. At the end of the 2024-25 season, he achieved his third promotion, this time through the promotion play-offs held at the Quijote Arena, where the Ciudad Real side were the hosts. They beat the Port side 30-23 in the opening semi-final. Romanillos also played in two cup rounds during the season and scored 52 goals in 28 matches.

During the recent 2025-26 season, he helped BM Caserío Ciudad Real comfortably retain their place in the NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League. The team finished eighth with 27 points, while Romanillos scored 32 goals in 24 matches. In the Copa de S. M. el Rey, however, the La Mancha side were eliminated in the first round by the red-and-whites, 30-20, at the Port de Sagunt Arena.

Jorge Romanillos therefore joins the previously announced signings Guille Soler, Miguel Llorens and Gabriel Navarro. He will also share the dressing room with renewed players Dani Martínez and Juani Villarreal, Javier Olivares, Alberto Serradilla, Antonio Capitán, Nicolás Zungri, Carlos Martín and Diego Olba, as well as Javier Manzano, who steps up to the first team from the Primera Nacional reserve side.

Over the coming days, Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto will continue to reveal the remaining members of the 2026-27 squad through the club’s social media channels and website.
