BM Puerto Sagunto Defence Platform presents itself to the Mayor

This Wednesday morning, a meeting was held at the town hall between representatives of the founding members of the BM Puerto Defence Platform and the Mayor, Alfredo Castelló, accompanied by the Councillor for Sport, Sergio Muniesa. The founding members were represented by José García Felipe, former Mayor of Sagunto; Manuel Sanz, a founding director of BM Puerto Sagunto; Antonio Vidal, businessman and the club’s longest-standing sponsor; Miguel Ángel Alegría, founding member and a figure closely linked to the world of the Fallas; Sagunto architect Paco Ribelles; and Enrique Soriano, a member of ArcelorMittal’s European Works Council. Mayor Alfredo Castelló confirmed that he would make every effort within his power, as he always has, but that this time it was also a plenary mandate from the council and he must fulfil it as Mayor. On behalf of the Platform, as well as presenting it to him, José García Felipe, acting as the Platform’s spokesperson at the meeting, reminded the Mayor that the club is the city’s most important sporting asset and that major companies must commit to its survival.

Juanjo Bataller stated that we are racing against time, and that we must all be fully aware that this time, once again, as at other points in the club’s history, the threat of ceasing to be an elite club is very real. We have no more than a couple of months to secure new financial incentives and ensure, at least for a stable period, survival in the professional leagues.

The meeting was cordial and constructive, and all parties reaffirmed their objective of securing BM Puerto Sagunto’s survival among the elite.
