The girls from Sagunto have taken off and touched the sky. They arrived in Elche with the humility that characterises them and respect for their rival teams, demonstrating that sportsmanship is what matters most to this team, both on and off the court.

 In this Cadet category Spanish Women’s Handball Championship final, the eight sector champions took part, divided into two groups. In the first phase, the Mar Sagunto team defeated the hosts, Santa María de Elche (38-26); in their second match they lost to Base Villaverde (19-20), who would ultimately win the Championship; on Friday they beat Itxaco (21-29), progressing to the medal play-offs, where they defeated Agustinos Mar Alicante (28-29). On Sunday they lost to Bm. Alcobendas (25-31), which meant they finished third and became elite athletes.

 These girls from the Mar Sagunto academy have earned the reward for four years of hard work. They have formed a close-knit team, and this unity—with no individual names—has defended, attacked, run, sweated, cried and laughed over these five days; they have left their skin and soul on the court. Now, as the days pass and they prepare for their final exams, these girls will gradually realise what they have achieved and, above all, how they achieved it: through dedication and effort, values that many young people today do not possess.
